Climate Justice Hour with Greg Ohadoma (OER) and Chris Gaynor (DEM)
You are invited to the next iteration of our Climate Justice Hour, this time in-person AND presented over Zoom, to have a discussion about the Rhode Island workforce and community involvement. For members of our Spanish-speaking communities, interpretation services will be available.
A Just Transition to a net-zero emission economy centers on racial & social justice and the voices of the people who are most affected by pollution—frontline workers and frontline communities.
A Just Transition must contain strong labor standards, including protections for family-supporting and sustaining wages and benefits, procurement transparency, and strong industry training standards.
– Climate Jobs RI, What is a Just Transition?
Let’s talk about it! What would you like to see happen?
Chris Gaynor (Climate Justice Specialist with the RI Department of Environmental Management) and Greg Ohadoma (Energy Justice Manager with the RI Office on Energy Resources) want to hear from community voices, organizers, and environmental justice advocates about the pressing climate change issues that have affected Rhode Island communities. Chris and Greg will be inviting colleagues from Roots 2 Empower, Climate Jobs RI, and Building Futures to discuss the Rhode Island workforce and community involvement.
This is an ongoing conversation to inform the work of Chris and Greg, relevant organizations, and to connect them with the most important perspectives of Rhode Islanders…YOURS!
