EC4 Climate & Food Systems Workshop
EC4 Climate & Food Systems Workshop: Join the Conversation About the Link Between Climate Change and Food Systems in Rhode Island
Food systems are inextricably connected to the climate crisis. The food system contributes to over 1/3 of global greenhouse gas emissions and is impacted by a changing climate that threatens food supply by reducing crop yields and disrupting natural ecosystems on land and sea. The way we produce, process, distribute, consume and dispose of food is a double-edged sword that holds the potential to draw down emissions while contributing to long-term food security.
Join the EC4 on July 27th for a workshop focused on the nexus of climate and food systems. A panel of experts will discuss this connection, what we’ve done so far, and what future actions we should prioritize. Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions and provide their thoughts. This discussion will directly inform the 2022 Update to the 2016 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan and the 2.0 update to the Rhode Island Food Strategy, RelishRhody.
Wednesday, July 27th from 1:00 - 2:30 pm: Register at Act on Climate Events Page (https://climatechange.ri.gov/act-climate/attend-event)
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary – everyone interested is encouraged to attend! This discussion will be held virtually using Zoom, with call-in information available.
